Eastern Market Shed 3
The Detroit’s Historic Eastern Market has been in continuous operation since 1891. In 2008, a full renovation of the market campus was commissioned by the Eastern Market Corporation (EMC) and the City of Detroit. The project began with a complete rehab of Shed 3, a 28,000 SF steel frame, concrete, and masonry building.
Shed 3 is Phase I of the EMC 360° initiative to restructure the market with renovations to all of its existing buildings. Now complete, the renovation has transformed Shed 3 from the perspective of both vendors and customers. With more natural light, increased flexibility for traffic flow, and better amenities, the Shed 3 renovation has created a lasting mark on the Eastern Market experience.
